Services - Special Needs Consulting
For Children with ADHD, ADD, and Other Educational Issues, We Help Learning Become the
Positive Experience it was Meant to Be.
Learning disability ... a term that is negative, emphasizing deficiency over capability.
At Hoffman Education, we have a unique approach to working in the field of learning
disability therapy. We prefer to use the term "learning difference", believing that
all students are able to learn, and simply need to find the ways they learn best.
At Hoffman Education, we embrace each students' unique learning style. Our goal is to
develop a positive, take-charge attitude toward learning, help minimize stress surrounding learning
difficulties and improve performance and confidence.
We have developed a five point credo as a means of addressing the needs that
must be met to overcome learning difficulties:
-
The need for self advocacy
-
The need for the child to understand his learning strengths and weaknesses
-
The need to identify the correct learning environment for each learner
-
The need to adapt to a given learning environment
-
The need to laugh about learning issues.
Remember, just because people learn differently, it does not mean they are unable
to learn - it just means they need to find the ways they learn best.
Learning Help: Remedial Instruction
Our team of highly-trained learning specialists, led by Marc Hoffman, have experience with a
full range of learning differences and executive functioning weaknesses, including ADHD and ADD,
processing and working memory deficits, and will customize a program for each student's particular learning issue.
Following a thorough evaluation of the student's school performance, testing, and parental input,
we develop an individualized program for each student. Our learning specialists help students
understand their individual strengths, weaknesses and learning style, and provide the techniques and
strategies that will enable him or her to become an independent learner and reach full potential.
A learning challenge does not have to be the most significant issue in a child's life.
It should certainly not be the cause of negative self-esteem. We can provide the remedial tutoring,
new tools, and support your child needs, to gain confidence and feel empowered to deal with whatever
challenges come along.
Learning Help: Multidisciplinary Approach
Learning is a complex dynamic that involves many skills, including organization,
memory, problem solving, persistence, and motivation.
To ensure a well coordinated approach, we typically collaborate with the child's school, teachers,
therapist, and other involved professionals to help foster the progress of the student. There is a vital
link between all supporting services, and by maintaining this dialog, we ensure the best possible results
for your child.
We constantly re-evaluate progress against the individualized plan that has been developed. We may
recommend a change in program, frequency, or even suggest work over the summer, to maintain skills
and help your child reach his full potential.
