Our Approach

Hoffman Educational Group, LLC has a unique approach to working in the field of learning disability therapy. Founder Marc Hoffman has overcome learning difficulties himself, and in fact graduated from Williams College (one of the top three Liberal Arts colleges in the country, according to a recent U.S. World News Report) with a 3.3 GPA in Psychology. Today, Marc is widely known as an expert in the field of learning differences and is an outspoken advocate for valuing each child for their strengths and not one’s weaknesses. Marc’s belief is that learning is a complex dynamic that involves many skills – including organization, memory, problem-solving, persistence, and motivation. If a learner has a problem with any one of these areas – in addition to having difficulty reading, for example – the learning process can become very frustrating for a student. Nevertheless, it is Marc’s firm commitment that each person can learn, seeks to learn, and deserves to know how he or she learns best.

As Marc has said on numerous occasions, “Having a learning disability has been a blessing because it has enabled me to truly discover the person that I am and what I can become.” Hoffman Educational Group helps children with learning differences develop a positive, “take-charge” attitude toward their learning.

Our goal at Hoffman Educational Group is to help students and families minimize stress about learning difficulties, while at the same time inspiring every child to realize his or her maximum potential. We work to foster a belief within a child that he or she is capable of learning. It is our belief that learning is a self-fulfilling prophecy; learning and being successful in school is based on the perception students have of their own abilities. A child’s ability to learn should not be limited by other people’s perceptions of what he or she can achieve.

At Hoffman Educational Group, we prefer to use the term “learning differences” instead of “learning disability.” We believe that students are rarely unable to learn; rather they need to find the ways they learn best and to discover the strategies that work for them.

Hoffman Educational Group can help to create the appropriate learning environment for a child by suggesting the proper outside resources as well as to provide the important support to help children believe that they can deal with whatever challenges come their way. A learning challenge does not have to be the most significant issue in a child’s life. It should certainly not be the cause of negative self-esteem.

Hoffman Educational Group offers one-on-one home academic coaching/tutoring combined with intense work with families. All of our services and programs are designed to produce meaningful results.
